“Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks"

Twyla Tharp

About Nanda Gupta

My Vision

Nanda Gupta is a  Delhi based artist. She first started painting as a  means to convey the beauty of nature and capture in art those magical moments when she felt connected to nature. She experimented with different kinds of medium, loved what she was doing and became a serious painter.

Since then she has found that painting gave her a creative way to express her inner feelings. As she moved through life, she found that yoga, meeting her guru and her daily sadhna and practices began an inner journey that has added a new dimension in her life that is reflected in her paintings.
"Painting started a  journey of self discovery for me.. It gave me a way to express my feelings and  my emotions when I see/experience something overwhelming or moving.
I have realized that this is my life purpose… to express myself in a way that brings out my true self and hopefully touches the viewer from within. "

She has  trained under Kavita Jaiswal and later under Sunando Basu.

What inspires me

Many moments in my life i have felt connected  to  everything

Just walking on the streets  made me peer at the  red mud and grass, or just a  little nod from the trees,a whisper from the wind ,the gentle shower of rain, feeling love for a person passing by ....

So i have  tried to give names to these moments as best as i can.

Spiritual

When i see something that does not  represent something normal...and it (colour, form, movement ) moves me...I feel connected to it and i don't know why....yet it makes me wonder..  and takes me to another world....that's abstract and spiritual at the same time to me...and I feel blessed it  to be able to see  and feel such things.

Each day makes me stop and think and take a pause,  notice and enjoy the little joys of life .

Shiva

He is the first guru ,Adi Guru for all yoga aspirants.
I have been doing Yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation for a while now.
So I was unconsciously drawn to him. I find there is something mystical and unique in his existence which draws me to him.
When I  meditate on him  I feel a surge of energy and forms  coming to me and my journey begins.

Though all my art comes from Him  i have offered my devotion  in my Shiva series.
He is that which is not, he is everything, he is  the cosmos....

Nature

Nature

Shiva and Shakti always go together  and so  my inspiration continued.

She has been my greatest inspiration. Whether it the mountains, the sea, the forest, or simply being under the sky and stars.

Many series have emerged being overwhelmed by Her .

Calm is the green leaves

that sways soo gently

as if swooning over her lover here and now

The fragrance of the earth

consumes me

the pitter and patter

wants me to join them at play

just listening to her,

moistens my eyes;

gives me goosebumps,

connects me to her,

Mother nature

she kills me softly with her song !
